On November 11, 2008 over 300 supporters, members of the Chicano Park Steering Committee, Fr. Richard Brown – Our Lady of Guadalupe, officials from the Military, City, State and Federal Government joined the Logan Height Veterans Memorial Committee for the memorial groundbreaking ceremony in Chicano Park. On this date an idea began its transition to a reality.

After a few years of negotiation and collaboration with Councilmember David Alvarez – District 8, the Chicano Park Steering Committee, Caltrans and the San Diego Parks and Recreation Department we gained final approval in February, 2012 for the monument.
