Design Requirements:

• Monument must not exceed $10,000.00-$15,000.00 (all cost must be inclusive of production, material cost, artist fees and installation)
• Non-gender
• Race free
• Non-political/religious
• Memorial must not be larger than 6 ft. in width/6 ft. in length & 8 ft. in height
• Reflect veterans’ from all services/include military insignias
• Blend in to the park’s surroundings
• Visible to the public
• Easy access to the monument
• No fence or barriers will surround the monument
• Include optional flag holder
• Inscription to be determined by the LHVM committee
• Preliminary drawing of your design

COST REQUIREMENTS:

• Keep within the Monument budget of $10,000.00 – $15,000.00
• Cost analysis for the material
• Cost analysis for production
• Cost analysis for labor/contractor fees associated with this design.
• Cost of installation

ARTIST RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Construction/fabrication and installation of Memorial
• Keep expenses within the Monument budget
• Apply all of the design requirements to the Monument
• Submit design and supporting documentation/information to the Memorial Design Committee no later than November 2, 2009

For example: Cost of material, cost of fabrication, cost of labor, cost of installation, cost of hourly wage, etc. The Artist will have the responsibility of the construction and final installation of the memorial with the guidance of the Sub-Committee Representatives.

MEMORIAL PERMIT:

Memorial Design Sub-Committee will coordinate with the Chicano Park Steering Committee to acquire appropriate permit/s.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

Artist submission form and all supporting documentation, i.e. drawing, cost breakdown, etc. must be delivered/mailed Attn: Chairperson Ed Cervantes, Logan Heights Veterans Memorial, PO Box 701, Bonita, Ca. 91908. Submissions must be received no later November 02, 2009. Inquiries can be made via e-mail to info@lhveteransmemorial.com.

All submissions will be proprietary until the winner is chosen. If your design is not selected as the Artist for the memorial all artwork will be returned to you. Please check back the our website for the announcement of the winning artist after December 7, 2009.

Press releases and community information will be issued by Canuto Martinez, Community Relations Coordinator and Frank W.C. Peralta, Treasurer.

Design is not to be shared with anyone other than the members of the Memorial Design Sub-Committee.
